These activities included joint plant exploration expeditions, an international symposium on Bahamian plant biodiversity, the publication of a special issue of an international plant research journal focusing on Bahamian botany, and the developing of a program to establish institutional exchanges oriented towards conservation, science, and education. This model has led to synergy between the institutions and we believe that is applicable to other Caribbean Islands who want to establish partnerships with other botanic gardens or universities.
