Systematics Section/ASPT Chau, John [1], Olmstead, Richard [2]. Molecular phylogeny and historical biogeography of the genus Buddleja (Scrophulariaceae). The genus Buddleja includes about 110 species of shrubs and trees with distributions in Africa, Asia, North America, and South America. Hypotheses for species relationships and historical biogeography have been proposed but remain untested. A preliminary phylogenetic study was conducted using chloroplast and nuclear loci, including ETS and PPR loci. The results from maximum likelihood and Bayesian analyses are presented. Ancestral range reconstruction was conducted to infer the area of origin and patterns of dispersal. Broader Impacts:
